At Secrète Fine Jewelry in Washington, DC, and Bethesda, MD, clients frequently ask, “Is yellow gold making a comeback?” It’s a hard question to answer, because gold jewelry has been “in” for literally thousands of years. Archaeologists have found gold beads from 4600 BC (check out the story), Abraham– the legendary grandfather of western religion– sent his servant out with gold jewelry to find a wife for his son, and we all know that everyone from the Ancient Egyptians to Liz Taylor to Kanye have rocked some impressive yellow gold jewelry.

The better question is, when did yellow gold go “out”?
Town & Country published an article last summer about the “comeback” of yellow gold. These style experts traced the “out” date to the 1995 movie Casino. We’re not so sure.
No matter what the style bloggers say, Secrète considers this precious metal to be timeless and elegant, the type of luxury that transcends trends
18k yellow gold ring set with internally flawless 1.4 ct oval diamond, framed by two .35 pt flawless diamonds. We just finished this custom design for one of our DuPont Circle customers. The proportions of this ring are perfect. Our jewelry designer actually upgraded the side stones from what the client had originally asked for without charging a dime more– just because we’re too proud to do something without perfect proportions.
