How do I start a custom design?
Start your custom design by scheduling a consultation with Secrète Fine Jewelry. One of our team members can talk with you about your ideas and vision for the gift, whether you have something very specific in mind or whether you have a few vague ideas of what might be nice. During your consultation, the designer will suggest some ideas and take notes to get a feel for the overall project, timeline, and budget.
Normally, your designer will then take a few days to draft some designs and source material options. Once you’ve had a chance to review the drawings and materials, you can suggest edits, ask questions, or make revisions. The designer will then respond with the edits or revisions you suggested or offer some professional advice. This editing stage continues until the design is just right. Sometimes people make appointments to come look at diamonds or gemstones in person as part of the design process, but it really depends on the specific design.

Once there is a design that works for you, our master jeweler can get to work. We prefer to have four to six weeks to complete a custom design, however, we understand that sometimes we’re on a tighter timeline, especially before the holidays, so we can normally accommodate tighter timeframes if needed. When in doubt, it’s always better to get the ball rolling a little earlier if possible. Early November is a great time to get custom Christmas jewelry started!

Finally, after the jeweler has sculpted the mold in wax, hand-cast the precious metal, filed, shaped, and polished the metal, set the stones, and polished the setting one final time, the finished jewelry is ready for pickup to make this year the best holiday season yet.
