At Secrète Fine Jewelry, we take pride in our custom creations, each hand-crafted in our Bethesda workshop using time-honored techniques. One of our favorite parts of the custom-design process is getting to know the adorable couples during the process.
Here are a few of the stories behind our most recent engagement rings and wedding bands.
This lovely, dainty rose-gold and diamond engagement ring features a GIA certified D color, Flawless, independently-certified conflict-free Canadian diamond in the center for an ethically conscious couple who work on Capitol Hill. The delicate proportions are as sweet as the couple.
Sapphire and Diamond Channel-Set Engagement RIng
This dreamy ring was custom-created for a Falls Church, Virginia couple, featuring the classic lines she loves and a pop of beautiful Ceylon sapphire couple channel-set all the way around the ring. The little bridge under the diamond was pave-set with diamonds to add a little bling, and the gentle curve of the swooping prongs was just one more beautiful detail to make this simple ring one of a kind.
The Victorian Flower
The top ring in this photo was an antique Victorian engagement ring that a young Washington, DC couple found online. They loved the graceful curves, the unique rose-cut diamonds in the halo, and the general style. The bride-to-be, however, had her heart set on rose gold, not to mention a slightly bigger center diamond. They brought this photo to Secrète to see what we could do. We were about to source beautiful vintage diamonds (ethically recycles) and hand-craft the rose gold recreation.
This close-up of the ring shows what a sweet and feminine scalloped halo it has. We were happy to make this two-tone rose and platinum beauty by hand in our Bethesda workshop.
The Art Deco Hexagon Sapphire
The ring on the left was spotted by a Maryland bride-to-be when she was browsing Pinterest. She loved the shape of the sapphire, the unusual elongated hexagon, but was wary of the bulky bracket-shaped prongs and the flimsy-looking construction. Our version, on the right, features a custom-cut sapphire chosen by the couple in its original form (emerald cut) then recut by our expert gem cutters to match the unique shape of the inspiration ring.
This close-up of the finished ring shows the gorgeous platinum bezel we placed around this one-of-a-kind sapphire and the vintage-style single-cut diamonds framing either side.
The Pink Diamond Double Halo
This lovely cushion-cut diamond was surrounded by a pink-diamond halo in 18k rose gold and another white diamond halo in 18k white gold on a white diamond split shank. The pretty, subtle pinks of these natural, untreated fancy pink diamonds were a perfect, feminine touch for the Tennessee couple who designed and ordered this ring with our bespoke custom design process, complete via the internet. The Modern Pear Halo
This classic pear-shape diamond in its halo in white gold started life as a sapphire ring that belonged to one of the bride's most beloved family members. The Secrete Fine Jewelry workshop used the halo diamonds and kept the original shape, but swapped the navy blue sapphire for a GIA certified I color VVS1 1.01ct diamond, and substituted the original tall, multi-pronged setting with a modern low-profile, 3-prong update. This beauty pays homage to her family heirloom without sacrificing on style. The couple saved the extra diamonds and the sapphire for a future project-- we think a sapphire pendant would make a nice anniversary gift one day.
The Three-Stone Sapphire
This engagement ring started off as a simple errand- a man brought in a watch to have extra links removed. By the end of the day, we'd planned this gorgeous natural Ceylon engagement ring to be made for a proposal the following weekend, all in the midst of holiday closures and restricted business hours! They're such a lovely, spontaneous couple, and we're delighted to have given them this amazing 1.21ct royal blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring set in platinum.
The Ethical French-Set
This gorgeous engagement ring was custom-designed by a lovely DC couple with a dainty infinity design, french-set diamonds, and a conflict-free lab-grown diamond center stone in recycled 14k white gold, all ready for a 2019 wedding.
